London: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suffered a major setback a few days before the practice match of the Indian cricket team. A player of the Indian team in England has turned out to be Kovid-19 positive. Strict COVID-19 guidelines are not being followed in the UK, which has led to an increase in cases over the past few weeks. Before the series against Pakistan, many positive cases were reported in the England camp and now the Indian camp has also come under the grip of the virus.

According to the report of InsideSport, one Indian player from the 23-man squad that visited England has turned out to be Corona virus positive. The player had done the RT-PCR test on 10 and 14 July. The sample of July 10 showed that his report has come positive. However, the report of July 14 is awaited.

A worried BCCI said on Thursday morning, “All the players will gather in Durham today. The player who has turned out to be Kovid-19 positive will remain in confinement. Now we will not allow any player to meet with each other till the report of the test taken yesterday is received. The BCCI has asked all the players and support staff who came in contact with the player to remain in isolation for the next three days.

It has been learned that the Indian player felt a sore throat, after which he got his Kovid-19 test done. Its report came positive and the cricketer is in isolation at his relative’s house.

Despite the COVID-19 positive report, all players will travel to Durham as planned. Whoever needs isolation will then be in isolation from other people. The official said, “We have asked the players and support staff members who were in contact with the player to remain in isolation for three days. He will travel to Durham, but will be in isolation. Everyone’s tests have been taken on Tuesday, so we are just waiting for the reports.

Indian team will play practice match next week

The Indian cricket team led by Virat Kohli will play a three-day practice match against County XI next week. This match will be played on July 20. Due to the COVID-19 case, some players may not be available for this match. “The three-day practice match will see several players from across the county circuit play against the Indian team,” the release said.
