Islamabad United registered a resounding 4-wicket win with two balls to spare in Saturday’s second match in Abu Dhabi. In this 30th match of the season, against Multan Sultans, Islamabad stopped them on the basis of their bowlers for 149 runs and then achieved the target in 19.4 overs losing 6 wickets. Mohammad Wasim’s bowling was the most special in this. This was Islamabad’s 8th win this season in 10 matches. They are at the top of the points table.

In this match, Multan Sultans won the toss and decided to bowl first. He had a great start too. Opener Shan Masood (59 off 37 balls) and captain Mohammad Rizwan (26 off 24 balls) put on a 93-run partnership for the first wicket. Shan Masood was dismissed in the 10th over and after that his innings started to falter. The biggest role in this was of Islamabad’s pacer Mohammad Wasim.

Wasim bowling excellently, took 4 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs. While Faheem Ashraf and Fawad Ahmed took 2-2 wickets. On the other hand, Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed took 1-1 wickets. With this, Multan Sultans were all out for 149 runs in 20 overs and set a target of 150 runs in front of Islamabad United.

In reply, captain Shadab Khan scored 34 runs and Hussain Talat scored 34 runs for the team of Islamabad United. While Mohammad Akhlaq scored 26 and Asif Ali scored 25 runs. On the strength of these innings, Islamabad easily chased the target in 19.4 overs and further consolidated their position at the top of the points table.
