The story of Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor starrer Bell Bottom is set in 1984. There were two hijackings in 1984, the first was an Indian Airlines flight IC-405, which was diverted to Lahore, Pakistan on 6 July, and the second was an Indian Airlines Boeing 736, which was flown from Delhi to Chandigarh about 40–45 days later. The kidnapping was done on the way to Srinagar. It is being said that the story of the film revolves around a secret mission to thwart this kidnapping case of a terrorist organization.
