Mumbai: Rahul Dravid, who was appointed the head coach of the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour, said on Sunday that it is unlikely that all the young players selected for the limited overs series will get a chance to play in the match.
The youngsters are looking to impress the selectors with their performances for this year’s T20 World Cup and Dravid is returning to the role of coach for this series, which he believes is expected to give everyone a chance in this short tour. Get it, it’s not possible.
Under Shikhar Dhawan’s captaincy, the less experienced team will tour Sri Lanka, which has six players who have not played an international match. Dravid, head of the National Cricket Academy, said in a press conference before the team’s departure, ‘I think it would probably be unrealistic to expect us on this short tour to give everyone a chance, which consists of three T20 matches and three ODIs. And the selectors will also be there.
These players include the trio of Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson to make it to the T20 squad for this year’s World Cup. The series against Sri Lanka will start with ODIs from July 13 followed by T20 matches from July 21. The World Cup was earlier to be held in India, but due to the Kovid-19 pandemic, it will be held in the United Arab Emirates in October.

Three T20Is will be more important than the ODIs in Sri Lanka as it will be India’s last international match before the World Cup. The former Indian captain said, “There are a lot of players in this team who want to cement their place in the team for the upcoming world and want to make some place but I think the main goal of everyone in the team is to try to win the series.” .’
“The main objective is to win the series and hopefully the players will get a chance to perform well,” he said. There are only three T20 matches before the World Cup. I am sure the selectors and the management must have got an idea of the kind of team they want by now.
