Mumbai: Sensex jumped 210 points to a new record level on Tuesday on gains in shares of Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Hindustan Unilever and Tech Mahindra, BSE’s 30-share Sensex (Sensex) During the day’s trading, it reached its new all-time high of 55,854.88 points.
Later, the Sensex closed at its new record high of 55,792.27, gaining 209.69 points or 0.38 per cent. On the other hand, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 16,614.60 with a gain of 51.55 points or 0.31 per cent.
Among the Sensex companies, the share of Tech Mahindra climbed more than three percent. TCS, Nestle India, Titan, Infosys and Hindustan Unilever were also gainers. On the other hand, IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel and L&T fell.
European markets were in losses in afternoon trade
Vinod Modi, Head of Strategy, Reliance Securities, said, “Domestic stock markets remained volatile amid weak global cues. Midcap and smallcap stocks remained under pressure.
In other Asian markets, China’s Shanghai Composite, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and South Korea’s Kospi closed with significant losses. European markets were in losses in afternoon trade. Meanwhile, international benchmark Brent crude fell 0.24 per cent to $69.34 per barrel.
