Washington : US President Joe Biden has appointed Indian-origin Circuit Court Chief Justice Shalina D Kumar as a federal judge for the Eastern District of Michigan. In a statement issued by the White House on Wednesday, information was given about this appointment of Shalina. Shalina, who became a district judge at Michigan’s Eastern Court, has served as a judge on the Oakland County Sixth Circuit Court since 2007.
First Lady of South Asian descent
The Michigan Supreme Court appointed him Chief Justice of the Circuit Court in January 2018. The White House says Shalina D Kumar is the first woman of South Asian descent to become a federal judge in Michigan. He has experience in both civil and criminal matters.
