During the first match of TNPL between Lyca Kovai Kings and Salem Spartans, Suresh Raina was asked by the commentator about his long relationship with the city. Let us tell you that Suresh Raina has been playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL since 2008.
34-year-old Raina said, ‘I think I am also a Brahmin. I have been playing in Chennai since 2004. I love tradition. I love my team mates. I have played with Aniruddha Srikanth, Subramaniam Badrinath, Lakshmipathy Balaji. We have good governance at CSK and we can express ourselves freely. I love the tradition there and am lucky to be a part of CSK.
ruckus on social media
Social media users did not like this thing of Suresh Raina at all. Social media users scolded him a lot. One user wrote, ‘Suresh Raina you should be ashamed of yourself. Looks like you never experienced the real Chennai tradition even though you played for the Chennai team for many years.
CSK officials tried to douse the fire on Raina’s statement and refused to comment. “We have nothing to say in this matter at this moment,” the senior official said. Even before the 2020 IPL, Raina had courted controversy when he returned from Dubai citing personal reasons. The CSK management was not happy with him then, but still kept him with them in the 2021 IPL.
