Mumbai: Actor Sidharth Malhotra played the role of Captain Vikram Batra in the recently released film Shershaah. The reaction of the Param Vir Chakra awardee’s family was talked about after watching the film. The special screening of the film took place in Delhi where the family and Siddharth were present. In an interview, Sidharth Malhotra shared that Vishal Batra, Captain Vikram Batra’s twin brother said that he never saw the soldier while on duty. But after watching the film he will think of Siddharth in the image of Vikram’s soldier. Sidharth Malhotra has also posted a video of him during the screening.

While talking with Spotboye, Sidharth recalled Vishal’s reaction saying, ‘You know Sid, I have only seen him (Vikram Batra) off duty and whenever he has come back from duty. I have never seen him in action, and now I will see you whenever I think of him (Vikram Batra) in combat. These are such true feelings. I was overjoyed… anyone would be so happy that they are contributing to someone’s legacy.’

Siddharth said, ‘It was incredible to spend time with Vikram’s family afterwards. Obviously, this was a very difficult time for him. Tearful eyes, and lots of emotions are everywhere. I met the youngest generation of his family, who are in their 20s. And they all said that we don’t know Chachu (referring to Captain Vikram Batra). We haven’t seen him, and we’ve heard stories, but so far he didn’t have any scenes.’

Siddharth also played the role of Vikram Batra’s twin brother Vishal Batra in the film. Talking to news agency ANI, she said, ‘Vikram and Vishal are twin brothers, so it was quite exciting to portray them both on screen. What I really liked. They have very different personalities and I had to understand both.

Shershaah is a film based on the events of Kargil War and the love story of Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema. Based on the story of the 1990s and the Kargil war, the film also stars Kiara Advani as an actress. It has been released on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday.
