In the fourth match of the five-match T20 International series, the host West Indies cricket team defeated South Africa by 21 runs. After a series of losses in the last two matches, West Indies made a spectacular comeback with a win in the fourth T20I to level the series 2-2. Now the fifth and final T20 match of the series will be played on July 3 at the same St George’s ground. West Indies captain Kieron Pollard became the ‘Man of the Match’ in the fourth T20 match on Thursday.
In the fourth T20 match, the visiting South African team won the toss and decided to bowl first. West Indies team came out to bat and within 89 runs they lost the wickets of their top 5 batsmen. Evin Lewis (7), Chris Gayle (5), Shimron Hetmyer (7), Nicholas Pooran (16) and Lendl Simmons. Out of these, only opener Lendl Simmons was the top-order batsman who gave a good start to the team by scoring 47 runs in 34 balls. Simmons hit 4 sixes and 4 fours.
Kieron Pollard took over
West Indies captain Kieron Pollard took charge after the wickets of five top-order batsmen fell within a hundred runs. In the previous match, Pollard, who was bowled by Rabada without opening an account, played a brilliant half-century in this do or die match. Pollard played an unbeaten 51 off 25 balls, which included 5 brilliant sixes and 2 fours. Andre Russell was dismissed for 9 while Fabian Allen supported Pollard by scoring 19 runs and West Indies posted a score of 167 for 6 in 20 overs. Among the South African bowlers, Linde and Shamsi took 2 wickets each while Rabada and Nortje took 1-1.
Only Quinton de Kock walked in South Africa
South Africa had a target of 168 runs. Veteran opener Quinton de Kock once again batted well, scoring 60 runs in 43 balls, but apart from him, none of the other batsmen could stay on the pitch for long. Seven players of the team could not even cross the double figure. Markram made 20, David Miller 12 and Kagiso Rabada made 16 runs to give a slight push to the innings, but in 20 overs, South Africa could score only 146 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and lost the match by 21 runs.

During this, experienced all-rounder Dwayne Bravo performed strongly for the West Indies, taking 4 wickets for 19 runs. Apart from them, Russell took 2 wickets and Gayle, McCoy, Pollard took 1-1. Captain Kieron Pollard, who played a half-century in the match and took a wicket, was named the hero of the match.
