Nottingham: India and England face each other in the five-Test series. The first match played between the two teams at the Trent Bridge ground in Nottingham ended in a draw. England had set a target of 209 runs in front of India thanks to the century innings of captain Joe Root. In reply, India scored 52 runs for the loss of one wicket till the fourth day. India needed 157 runs to win on the fifth and final day but due to rain, there was no result on Sunday. With this match, ICC’s second World Test Championship (WTC) has started.
Each team will play a total of six series in the second round of the Test Championship. Three will be played at home and the rest will be played abroad. Only the Ashes and the England-India Test series will be of five matches, while the other teams will play in a two- or three-match series. At the same time, the only exception is the series between India and Australia, which will have four matches. The most important change in the second WTC has been made in the points system. Now each team will get 12 points for a win, 6 points for a tie, and four points for a draw. In the previous season, each series was divided into 120 points.
