Dubai: Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and West Indies captain Stephanie Taylor were on Wednesday named the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Player of the Month in the men’s and women’s categories respectively. Shakib’s contribution in all three formats of the game helped Bangladesh win the series against Zimbabwe last month. Shakib scored an unbeaten 96 during Bangladesh’s three-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the second ODI at Harare Sports Club.

Shakib took three wickets in T20 Internationals. Bangladesh also won the T20 series against Zimbabwe. He has also become the world’s number one all-rounder in the ICC Men’s T20 Rankings. Shakib beat Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and West Indies’ Hayden Walsh Jr. in the race for the best player of July.

West Indies defeated the Pakistan women’s cricket team led by Taylor in one-day and T20I series. She surpassed her teammate Haley Mathews and Pakistan’s Fatima Sana to become the women’s cricketer of the month.

In the four ODIs against Pakistan, Taylor took three wickets at an economy rate of 3.72 besides scoring 175 runs at a strike rate of 79.18. She topped the ICC’s rankings for women’s ODI batsmen and all-rounders in July.
