Panaji: Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja, who owns a bungalow in the picturesque village of Aldona in north Goa, has been fined Rs 5,000 by village sarpanch Tripti Bandodkar for throwing garbage in the village. Bandodkar on Monday said that the popular 90s cricketer paid the fine without any fuss.
The sarpanch said, “We are plagued by the issue of garbage in our village. Garbage from outside is also dumped in the village, so we have deputed some youth to collect garbage bags and scan them for any evidence to identify the culprits. Aldona village is home to many celebrities, including Jadeja and author Amitabh Ghosh.
Bandodkar said, “We found a bill in the name of Ajay Jadeja in some garbage bags. When we asked him not to throw garbage in the village in future, he said he was ready to pay the fine. So he paid. We are proud that such a personality, a popular cricket player, lives in our village, but such people should follow the garbage norms.
