Legendary England all-rounder Ben Stokes is hopeful that he will not face any problem during the five-match Test series against India despite suffering a pain in his left forefinger in the recent ODIs against Pakistan. Stokes had fractured this finger during the Indian Premier League, which was later operated on. He said that he was forced to take steroid injections to cope with the pain.

Ben Stokes will join the England national team after representing ‘Northern Superchargers’ in the opening few matches of ‘The Hundred’ tournament. The five-match Test series between India and England will begin in Nottingham from August 4.

Hope all goes well against India

“We plan to attend a few matches of ‘The Hundred’,” he wrote in the Daily Mirror. As far as COVID-19 is concerned, everyone will need to be as careful as possible. I know the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) is working hard to get it right.

“Hopefully, till the start of the Test series against India, my fingers will not be a problem because it is a big series and we are all looking forward to do well in it,” Stokes said.

How did it feel to be captain?

After the case of Kovid-19 infection in England’s main team, the ECB had to launch a new team in the ODI series against Pakistan under the captaincy of Stokes. “It was a completely unexpected game for me and the fact is that I would never play under normal circumstances because I had a lot of pain in my left index finger,” Stokes said.
