The Indian team made a slow start in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 62 runs for the Indian team, who came to bat first after losing the toss. Both the openers returned to the pavilion in the first session on Saturday, after which the team needed a strong partnership. In such a situation, ‘trustworthy’ batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, who came to play at number three, could not live up to the expectations of the team. He lost his precious wicket after playing a very boring innings.
Played 54 balls but did not score runs by running
Pujara has played many wonderful and memorable innings for India. He has also batted boldly on many difficult occasions. But in the first innings of the final, Pujara could not bat with stamina and returned to the pavilion cheaply. He scored 8 runs from 54 balls with 2 fours. Pujara did not take any run by running. He shared a 25-run partnership for the third wicket with Indian captain Virat Kohli. Kohli contributed 17 runs in this partnership which lasted from the 25th to the 41st over.
Cheteshwar Pujara became victim of bolt
Cheteshwar Pujara’s boredom was ended by New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult. Boult made Pujara his victim on the second ball of the 41st over. Pujara could not sense the ball after falling on the pitch and became LBW. His wicket fell on the total score of 88. Let us tell you that whenever Pujara and Bolt are face-to-face in the last few innings, the Kiwi bowler has dominated. Boult has dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara thrice in the last four Test innings.
