Southampton: England openers Jonny Bairstow (51) and David Malan (76) achieved a special feat in the third and final T20 International against Sri Lanka.

Actually, Jonny Bairstow and David Malan ended an 8-year drought and became the first English opening pair to have a century partnership in T20 International cricket. Earlier in August 2013, against Australia, the pair of Alex Hales and Michael Lumb made a century partnership at the opening in Durham.

In the third T20 International in Southampton, Malan and Bairstow shared a 105-run partnership in just 70 balls, blaming the Sri Lankan bowlers. Isuru Udana broke the partnership by bowling Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow scored 51 runs in 43 balls with the help of 5 fours and a six. This was the seventh half-century of Bairstow’s T20 International career.

On the other hand, David Malan continued his aggressive innings from the other end and scored 76 runs in 48 balls with the help of five fours and four sixes. Malan completed the 11th half-century of his T20 International career.

The left-handed batsman had completed his fifty in just 30 balls. Dushmantha Chamira bowled brilliantly for Sri Lanka and played a key role in restricting England to a low score after a stormy start. After the dismissal of both the England openers, none of the England batsmen could contribute well.

Liam Livingstone (14), Sam Billings (2), captain Eoin Morgan (1), Moeen Ali (7) returned to the dugout cheaply. England scored 180 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Sam Curran (9*) and Chris Jordan (8*) were frozen at the crease. Remember that England has already won the three-match T20 International series. England beat Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the first T20I and 5 wickets in the second T20I match.
