Bhubaneswar : Aside from the glitz of the metropolitan cities, rural life is often forced to bear the brunt of government apathy/neglect. A village in Balangir district in Odisha is also similar, where people are facing problems due to lack of even basic necessities like connectivity. In such a situation, instead of fulfilling the promises of the government and waiting for the administration, he himself decided to solve his problems and got involved in it.

Here the talk is happening of Kuturakend village in Titilagarh block of Balangir district of Odisha, where the local people say that during the rainy days, the place gets flooded, making it difficult for people to move anywhere. There is also a place in this, where there was a need to build a bridge over the drain, so that people can easily move anywhere even during the rainy season. But he says that neither the government nor the administration has listened to him in this matter.

Villagers built bridge

According to the villagers, the government makes promises to build a bridge here every year, but till now no work has been done in this direction. Instead of waiting for the administration, now he himself has started making efforts in this direction. The villagers are building wooden bridges together so that no one faces any problem in movement even during rainy days. Terming it an administrative failure, a villager said, “It becomes difficult to pass through here during the rainy season.”

He said, every year the government promises to make it, but nothing concrete has come out till now. In such a situation, the villagers themselves have started making wooden bridges here. News agency ANI has also shared its video on its Twitter handle, in which local villagers can be seen building wooden bridges.

At the same time, after the matter came to light, Asit Tripathi, Principal Advisor to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, ‘I appreciate his efforts. The villagers have contributed in the form of labor as well as financially. The wooden bridge over the drain is temporary. Soon a bridge will be built here.
