Sydney: Former Australia captain George Bailey has been appointed chairman of the national selection committee, replacing Trevor Hohns. Cricket Australia made this announcement on Sunday.
The 38-year-old Bailey’s first major challenge, who became part of the selection committee in February, will be the selection of the squad for this year’s T20 World Cup. Under his leadership, the selection committee will pick the squad for the home Ashes series and the tour of the subcontinent.
“I would like to thank Trevor for his incredible work, who has contributed to the success of Australian cricket over a long period of time,” Bailey said in a statement from Cricket Australia. He also helped me as a player and as a captain.
Cricket Australia’s acting general manager of national teams, Ben Oliver, said the body had begun searching for a third member of the panel to join Bailey and head coach Justin Langer.
