LondonBefore the ODI series against England, the Pakistan team has suffered a setback. The leading middle order batsman Harris Sohail has been ruled out of the England tour due to a hamstring injury. It is learned that Sohail has a grade 3 tier injury, which he suffered during a training session in Derby last week.
The medical panel of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has advised the left-hander to undergo a four-week rehab program. Harris Sohail was selected only for the ODI series. He will now return to Pakistan and undergo a rehab program at the National High Performance Center in Lahore.
“My focus was on the one-day series, where I was aiming to contribute to the team’s victory and cement my place,” Harris said in a statement. I am disappointed that my tour is over. But I will return to Lahore and do a rehab program so that I am fully fit for the 2021-22 season. The first match of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and England will be played in Cardiff on Thursday.
After this, a series of three T20 International matches will be played between England and Pakistan. Then the Pakistan team will leave for the West Indies on July 21, where they will play five T20s and two Tests. Meanwhile, England has selected a new team for the ODI series against Pakistan as seven members of the leading team were found positive in the Kovid-19 test. England’s main team has had to be in isolation. Ben Stokes has returned as the captain and Chris Silverwood will be the head coach.
