ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Group: ICC Men’s T20 World Cup groups announced ICC T20 World Cup: T20 World Cup schedule announced, India-Pakistan clash

Muscat: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced the group for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. From October 17 to November 14, the tournament will be hosted by the BCCI in Oman and UAE.

There will be a clash between 12 teams for the title of T20 World Cup 2021. This will be preceded by the Qualifiers stage, in which eight teams have been included. The qualifiers are divided into two groups A and B. Four teams are placed in each group.

Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia have been placed in Group A. Bangladesh, Scotland, Papuna New Guinea and Oman have been placed in the B group. In the qualifiers round, the top two teams from Group A and B will qualify for the Super-12.

India-Pakistan in a group

The group has been selected on the basis of team rankings as of 20 March 2021. In this Group-1 is England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, Group A winner, Group B runners-up. In Group 2, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Group A are runners-up and Group B are winners. It is a matter of happiness for the cricket fans that they will get to see the clash between the two arch-rivals India-Pakistan.

ICC Acting Chief Executive Geoff Allardyce said, “I am delighted to announce the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 group. There are some really good combinations in the group and this is just the beginning to present the event to our fans. This will be our first multi-team event since the global pandemic. We hope to see competitive cricket.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said, “Oman will be on the map of world cricket by hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which is good. This will increase the interest of young players in cricket. We know it will be a world class event in this corner of the world.

The venues for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be Dubai International Stadium, Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Sharjah Stadium and The Oman Cricket Academy Ground. The schedule of this tournament will be announced soon.
