The ICC, however, is in touch with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and is constantly getting information about what is happening in the national capital Kabul.
The Taliban have even entered Kabul and occupied the country while the political leaders of Afghanistan have left the country. According to the Times of India report, the ICC is monitoring the situation in Kabul and is in touch with the ACB officials. The current situation has aggravated the crisis over Afghanistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup. This year the T20 World Cup will be held in UAE and Oman from October 17.
ACB’s attempt to organize tri-series with West Indies and Australia
Hekmat Hasan, media manager of the Afghanistan team, recently revealed that despite the current situation, Afghanistan’s team will take part in the T20 World Cup. It was also revealed that the cricket team would return to practice in Kabul at some point. Apart from this, Afghanistan has to play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan in Sri Lanka next month, but now it has become a state of doubt.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board is currently trying to finalize the venue of the tri-series with Australia and West Indies.
