  • India tour of Sri Lanka – July 2021 – ODI and T20I series
  • VVS Laxman suggested to place these two players in the Indian Playing-11
  • There will be a series of three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals between India and Sri Lanka.

Former India batsman VVS Laxman feels Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal should be included in the last 11 in the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka as bowling three matches will help the spin duo gain confidence. Both these wrist spinners were an important part of Indian bowling before the last World Cup (ODI in 2019) but since the World Cup, both have seen a decline in their performance.

VVS Laxman told ‘Game Plan’ program of ‘Star Sports’, “There are six spinners in the Indian team but I want to see them play in all three ODIs. In ODIs, every bowler gets a chance to bowl 10 overs. So the more overs they bowl, the more success they get, their confidence will come back, especially Kuldeep Yadav.

The former artistic batsman said, “Chahal is a successful and experienced bowler, he will be full of confidence keeping the T20 World Cup in mind and is a very important member of the team. I think Kuldeep needs to gain his confidence.” Laxman, who has played 134 Tests and 86 ODIs for India, praised Suryakumar Yadav, saying that the 30-year-old right-handed batsman has the T20 World Cup. Has the ability to make a place in the team.

“I was excited to see Suryakumar Yadav batting at the third order. In international cricket, the way he played his first shot and scored runs against a bowler like Jofra Archer, it showed his confidence, talent and skill. It is a wonderful opportunity for him (on his tour of Sri Lanka).”

“I want him to play all the six matches (three ODIs and three T20 Internationals) because he is someone who can definitely make it to the T20 World Cup squad. I want him to grow and gain the confidence to score runs at the international level as well.” The Indian team will play a three-match ODI and as many T20Is on the tour of Sri Lanka from July 13.
