London: England head coach Chris Silverwood has urged his top-order batsmen to do well in the remaining four Tests against India, saying opener Haseeb Hameed should be included in the playing XI for the second Test at Lord’s. could. England’s top-order batsmen have been struggling to score runs for some time now. Rory Burns, Jock Crowley and Dom Sibley, none of them reached the 30-run mark in the first Test that ended in a draw due to rain.

“Yes, I think our top order needs to do well,” Silverwood told England media on Monday. Joe (Root) has been really good in the last six months, but we want the players who bat with him to score runs as well. We need better performances from other players as well to reduce the pressure on Root.

Root has scored four centuries so far this year. He scored 64 runs in the first innings and 109 in the second innings in the first test match. Silverwood said, ‘We have to accept that we are not scoring runs and we have to look at why this is happening. It’s not that effort isn’t being made. We need to find the formula that suits us. we are working on it.’

England expect from these two players

He said, ‘We have to do something. We want the players to get back into form and gain confidence, but if that doesn’t happen, then of course I have to think out of the box. At some stage I have to decide.

Hameed had made an impressive start to his Test career five years ago with a good three matches against India, but was ruled out due to a fractured finger and then his form went haywire. Silverwood said, ‘I believe he is as prepared as he can be. He strengthened his claim by scoring a century in Durham. We have to decide to give him a chance at some point.

He said that in the absence of all-rounders Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes, the name of Moeen Ali, who are not part of the current squad, is also under consideration.
