Bristol: Man of the match Tammy Beaumont (87*) and Natalie Sievers (74*) helped England women’s cricket team beat India by 8 wickets in the first ODI on Sunday. India, accepting the invitation to bat first, scored 201 runs in the allotted 50 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. In reply, England chased down the target in 34.5 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.
With this, the England women’s cricket team has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The second ODI of the series will be played in Taunton on Wednesday. Jhulan Goswami gave the first blow to England chasing the target of 202 runs in the match. Jhulan caught opener Lauren Winfield Hill (16) at the hands of wicketkeeper Tania Bhatia. From here Beaumont shared a 59-run partnership for the second wicket with Captain Heather Knight (18). Ekta Bisht broke this partnership by bowling Knight clean.

Beaumont and Natalie Sciver took the lead to finish England’s innings with a score of 83/2. Both faced the Indian bowlers brilliantly and swung shots in the four corners of the field. Mithali’s captaincy innings
Earlier, England captain Heather Knight won the toss and invited India to bat first. All eyes were on India’s debutante Shafali Verma (15), but she failed to impress.
