Now the series of three T20 International matches between the two countries will start from July 9.

Mandhana and Mithali amazing

Chasing the target of 220 runs, Shafali Verma (19) and Smriti Mandhana (49) gave a strong start to the Indian women’s cricket team with a partnership of 46 runs. Cat Cross gave India the first blow by getting Verma caught at the hands of Knight. Jemima Rodriguez (4)’s poor form continued and she was bowled by Ecclestone.

Smriti Mandhana (49) missed her half-century by just one run and was lbw out to Glenn. Captain Mithali and Harmanpreet Kaur (16) tried to handle the Indian team struggling on the score of 81/3. Both shared a 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Knight broke the partnership by lbw out to Kaur.

Meanwhile, Mithali Raj has overtaken former England captain Charlotte Edwards to become the highest run-scorer in all three formats of international women’s cricket. The 38-year-old surpassed Edward’s tally of 10,273 international runs when he was hit for a four by Nate Sivar in the 24th over of the innings while chasing the target in the third ODI against England here on Saturday.

Deepti Sharma (18) was caught by Sivar on his own ball. From here Mithali took Sneh Rana (24) with her and brought the match close by sharing 50 runs for the sixth wicket. Rana scored 24 runs in 22 balls with the help of three fours. He was clean bowled by Ecclestone. Mithali then sealed India’s victory by scoring a superb boundary from near the point on the third ball of the last over. For England, Sophie Ecclestone took two while Kate Cross, Sarah Glenn, Nate Sever and Heather Knight got one each.

Brilliant bowling by Deepti Sharma

Earlier, the Indian spinners stopped England from making big scores by taking wickets at regular intervals. England women’s team was all out for 219 runs in the last ball of the match. England were once in good shape with a score of 110/2, but their strategy of taking an aggressive approach against the Indian spinners did not work and after that wickets kept falling at frequent intervals.
