- CPL dates have been changed at the request of BCCI
The issue regarding the clash of dates in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has been resolved. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have finally reached an agreement. The BCCI had requested the West Indies Board to make changes in the CPL schedule, to which the CWI has agreed. If there is no agreement between BCCI and CWI, then many top players may be left out of the initial matches of IPL.
CPL will be held from 26 August to 15 September
According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, the CPL will now be played between August 26 and September 15. Earlier, the CPL was to begin on August 28 while it was to conclude on September 19. Due to the change in the CPL schedule, there will be no impediment for West Indies players to play in the IPL. Among them are players like Kieron Pollard, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran, Fabian Allen, Keemo Paul, Sunil Narine.
IPL postponed due to Corona
The first leg of IPL 2021 was organized in India, but the season had to be postponed due to the Corona epidemic. The BCCI has decided to hold the remaining matches of the IPL in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in September-October. Let us tell you that the BCCI had started talks with the CWI last month to change the schedule of the CPL. The BCCI was hopeful that some solution would definitely come out soon.
Windy Board President said this important thing
West Indies Board President Ricky Skerritt has confirmed the change in the CPL’s schedule. Skerritt said that IPL and CPL cricket are very important for West Indies, our cricketers and fans. CWI wanted one tournament to be protected from the overlapping of another tournament. Also, players can easily transition from one league to another. Cricket administrators should cooperate if cricket is protected from the risk and harm of the corona epidemic.
