Granada: West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has said that the mysterious spinner Sunil Narine will return to international cricket when his confidence in bowling returns. Pollard also said that the bowlers of Kolkata Knight Riders are not ready to play in the national team at this time. With IPL 2021 suspended midway, Kieron Pollard advised that Narine is not comfortable with his bowling action.
Pollard told Cricinfo, “Sunil Narine has indicated to the selectors that he may be available after the IPL. Then the IPL got suspended in the middle, so maybe he could not make the necessary preparations for his action or there is a lack of confidence in him. So Narayan said that he is not ready yet.
Sunil Narine last represented West Indies in 2019. Then he played T20 International match against Indian team. With the T20 World Cup to be held in the sub-continent this year, Kieron Pollard wants to have an experienced player like Sunil Narine in his team.
Why not take advantage of experienced cricketers: Pollard
Even though Sunil Narine is not a part of the five-match T20 International series against South Africa, several experienced players have made a comeback in the Caribbean squad. The average age of West Indies players against the Proteas is 31 years, with Chris Gayle (41 years) being the eldest. Apart from this, Fidel Edwards (39), Dwayne Bravo (37), Lendl Simmons (36) and captain Kieron Pollard (34) are their own age.
Pollard doesn’t mind having experienced players in the team. He believes that senior players can give a lot. Talking about the age of the squad, Pollard said, “If these guys are the dishonor of our team, then why don’t we take advantage of the little cricket left in them.” Some of these players have played all over the world and when we saw them playing all over the world, we asked why not and they are playing for us.

West Indies may be the current World T20 champions, but they have won only two series out of the last eight T20 International bilateral series. The main reason for this is the absence of its main players. However, in view of the T20 World Cup, many senior players have made a comeback and are expected to participate in the big event as well.
