- Many Pak cricketers are unhappy with PCC
- They want hike in cricket match fees
- It also includes Captain Babar Azam.
There is often a conflict between Pakistan players and the Pakistan Cricketer Board (PCB) on one or the other issue. These days many top cricketers of Pakistan and PCB are facing each other regarding match fees. The players who are unhappy with the PCB include captain Babar Azam, wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, all-rounder Hasan Ali and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi. All four have appealed to the cricket board to increase the match fee.
According to the report published in the website ‘Cricket Pakistan’, Azam, Rizwan, Ali and Afridi told a senior board official that their match fees should be revised. All four were recently placed in the ‘A’ grade in the contract. According to the report, these players are upset that their Test, ODI and T20 match fees have not been increased in the new central contract.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in July awarded central contracts to 20 players in different categories based on their performance for the 2021-22 season. In this, however, the match fee was kept the same for all classes. Actually, there has been an increase of 25 percent for ‘A’ grade players but the match fee has not changed. There has also been an increase of 25 percent in the ‘B’ category and the test fee has been increased by 15 percent. There was an increase of 20 percent in ODIs while 25 percent in T20 Internationals.
At the same time, if we talk about the players coming in ‘C’ category, then there has been a significant increase in all formats. An increase of 34 per cent in his Test match fees, 50 per cent in ODIs and 67 per cent in T20 Internationals has been announced. Keeping this in mind, the players of ‘A’ category are raising their voice for the increase in match fees. PCB chief executive Wasim Khan had said in July that players representing Pakistan would have a match fee, irrespective of the category they belong to. It also doesn’t matter whether they have a central contract or not.
