Islamabad : Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been raging about Kashmir, has now once again talked about it and has also linked it with nuclear weapons. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that as long as the issue of Kashmir is there, Pakistan needs it. Once the Kashmir issue is settled, Pakistan will no longer need nuclear weapons.
Discomfort in Pakistan due to India’s move
Imran Khan’s statement has come at a time when 14 leaders of eight parties of Kashmir have been invited for a meeting to be held in New Delhi on June 24 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since then, the political stir in Jammu and Kashmir regarding the assembly elections seems to be intensifying, whereas after this move of the Government of India, uneasiness is being seen in Pakistan.
Before Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said in a furious manner that Pakistan would oppose any move by India to partition Kashmir and change its demography and raised the matter in other international forums including the United Nations Security Council. Has been raised and has been apprised about the possible steps of India.
PAK shocked by India!
Now Imran Khan has said in an interview that the nuclear weapons that Pakistan has are its deterrence and are necessary for the security of the country. Imran Khan said in an interview aired on HBO about Pakistan’s nuclear weapons program, ‘As far as I know it is not an offensive thing.’ Without naming India, the Pak PM said, ‘Any country whose neighbor is seven times bigger will be worried.’
Imran Khan was questioned about the recent international report, which said that nuclear weapons in Pakistan are growing faster than any country in the world. The Pak PM claimed that he was not aware of where such reports were coming from and that he was not even “confirmed” whether Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal was actually growing or not.
Why does Pakistan need nuclear weapons?
Imran Khan also said that he has always been against nuclear weapons and once the Kashmir issue is resolved, Pakistan will no longer need it. Describing nuclear weapons as ‘important’ for Pakistan’s security, Imran Khan said, ‘We have had three wars with India and since we have nuclear weapons, there has been no war between the two countries so far. .’
Referring to Kashmir, the Pak PM said, “When the Kashmir issue is resolved, both the neighboring countries will live like civilized people.” We will no longer need nuclear weapons. He also said that there have been border skirmishes with India after the nuclear bomb was made, but there has been no war.
