New Delhi: After the T20 World Cup 2021 to be held in UAE this year, there is going to be a big change in the coaching and support staff of the Indian team. India’s head coach Ravi Shastri, batting coach Vikram Rathod, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar will step down from the national team after October-November.

There are reports that Ravi Shastri does not want his contract to be extended after the T20 World Cup in UAE. Other support staff also said that talks are on with the Indian Premier League franchises at an early stage. Ravi Shastri joined Team India as a director in 2014 and was made a full-time coach in 2017.

BCCI wants new coaching panel for Team India

Ravi Shastri came forward after Anil Kumble had reportedly resigned from his post following a dispute with skipper Virat Kohli. In 2019, Shastri was re-appointed as the coach of the Indian team. But going by the reports, the national team will get a new coach by the end of this year.

The Indian Express has reported that the BCCI is also focusing on the new group. There are speculations that if Rahul Dravid applies for the post of coach, then his name will be at the forefront. Dravid took over as the head coach during the Sri Lanka tour last month. While Dravid enjoys the job of head coach, he knows the challenges that come with becoming a full-time coach.

Dravid was quoted as saying, ‘I enjoyed working with these boys. It was wonderful. I didn’t think of anything else. There are many challenges when it comes to playing a full-time role, so I don’t know. Dravid is known to take the youth forward. However, under Shastri’s guidance, the Indian team is preparing for the second Test against England at Lord’s on 12 August.
