The Indian team of limited overs cricket, which went on a tour of Sri Lanka, started its campaign with the first ODI against the hosts on Sunday. Due to the presence of legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in England, the captaincy was handed over to Shikhar Dhawan, popularly known as ‘Gabbar’, for the tour of Sri Lanka. First of all, he has become the oldest Indian player to debut ODI captaincy as soon as he enters this match. He did this feat at the age of 35 years and 225 days. But after that when he came out to bat, he made another record in his name.
When Shikhar Dhawan came to play in this match, he needed 23 runs to complete his 6000 runs in ODI cricket. In the beginning, Prithvi Shaw batted with a bang, then Shikhar Dhawan kept his bat calm at that time but after the dismissal of Shaw (43 runs), Dhawan gradually increased the pace of his innings.
As soon as Shikhar Dhawan reached the 23-run mark, he made a new record in his name. He has become the 10th player to score 6000 runs in international ODI cricket for India.
These are the top 10 Indian players who have scored 6000+ runs in ODI cricket
