Dubai: India’s wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has told India and West Indies the finalists of the T20 World Cup to be held in UAE and Oman in October-November this year. Karthik also said that the West Indies team is his favorite team after India. Karthik said in the ICC digital show, ‘I don’t want to go about who will win this tournament but I want to see India and Windies going to the finals. After India my favorite team is Windies. I think it is the best in this format and I would love to see West Indies in the final.

He said, ‘I want India to win but for a moment I want to see India play against Windies in the final. These two are my favorite team for this T20 World Cup. Karthik was part of the Indian team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup. He said that there will be a competition between Rohit Sharma and David Warner to score the most runs in the tournament. Karthik said, ‘Both players are openers and both are solid players. Both Rohit and World Cup are synonymous. If India does well, it is they who will help the team. Warner has not played for Australia for some time. Now he will have the hunger to score runs. I am expecting him to score big.

When asked who will go to the semi-finals apart from India from Group 2. Karthik said, “It is a very close matter for me. Apart from India, there could be Pakistan and New Zealand. I would love to see Pakistan but I think New Zealand will find a way out.” From Group B, Karthik gave more chances for Bangladesh. “Bangladesh have a good opportunity. They play well against spin and they have a solid team. I was surprised that they have to play matches for qualification,” he said. ‘

Karthik told that Varun Chakraborty can emerge as the best bowler of the tournament. “My choice is Varun and I think this player will contribute to India’s progress,” Karthik said. The Men’s T20 World Cup will be held in UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14. The matches of the Super-12 stage will start from October 23.
