With the remaining matches of IPL 2021 scheduled to be held in September-October, it seems difficult to start the domestic season before the end of October. The remaining 31 matches of this season of IPL will be held in the UAE from September 19 to October 15, in which many domestic players will be involved. In such a situation, the domestic season, which was to start from the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament in September, will not start on time.

The state association official said, “The mega auction for IPL 2022 is expected to happen this year. Two new teams can be included in the IPL. Hence, interest in the Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament will increase. Ideally, it will clash with the IPL. The rest of the matches should not happen, otherwise the standard of the domestic T20 tournament will fall.”

Another state association official said, “Unfortunately, there has been no concrete discussion with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the domestic season. The situation from Corona has not stabilized yet. We have seen that the T20 World Cup. Has also gone out of India. We have heard that the board will wait to fix the date. But the T20 tournament probably won’t happen in September.”

Ranji Trophy has not been organized since last season and unless the situation in Corona improves, it is also difficult to happen this year. Now that the BCCI is currently busy organizing the IPL and the T20 World Cup, the schedule for the upcoming season is unlikely to get fixed soon.
