NottinghamEngland pacer James Anderson achieved a major milestone on the third day of the first Test against India on Friday. 39-year-old James Anderson has become the third highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. Anderson broke India’s legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble’s record of 619 Test wickets. Anderson achieved the feat by dismissing Indian opener KL Rahul (84) on Saturday.
James Anderson took two wickets in two consecutive balls on Thursday. He equaled Anil Kumble’s 619 wickets by dismissing Cheteshwar Pujara (4) and captain Virat Kohli (0). Till the time of writing this news, Anderson has taken four wickets in the Indian innings. With this, his total number of Test wickets has gone up to 621, which is yet to increase.
Let us tell you that Anil Kumble has taken 619 wickets in 132 Tests. At the same time, James Anderson took 621 wickets in his 163th Test till the time of writing the news. Remember that the record of taking most wickets in Test cricket is held by former Sri Lankan great off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
