HarareBangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyadh played the best innings of his career on the second day of the one-off Test against Zimbabwe. Mahmudullah scored an unbeaten 150 off 278 balls with the help of 17 fours and a six. Mahmudullah stitched a record 191 run partnership for the 9th wicket with Taskin Ahmed (75) to lift Bangladesh to a score of 468 runs. This innings of Mahmudullah was special in many ways.
Actually, Mahmudullah was dropped from Bangladesh’s Test team from February 2020. He was included at the last minute on the Zimbabwe tour when both Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim were injured. Apart from this, Mahmudullah was sent to the eighth order to bat, while he was the first middle order batsman. The Bangladeshi player entered the field with many challenges in mind and then made everything right by playing a historic innings.
Mahmudullah made the 50th Test of his career memorable and made his best score in Test career. Mahmudullah spent 413 minutes at the crease and scored an unbeaten 150 off 278 balls with the help of 17 fours and a six. This was the first time Mahmudullah scored 150 runs in Tests. Mahmudullah did all these great things in his return innings.
Let us inform that on Thursday, Bangladesh’s first innings was all out for 468 runs in 126 overs. In reply, Zimbabwe scored 114 runs for the loss of one wicket in 41 overs till the end of the day’s play. Takudwanashe Kaitano 33 * and captain Brendan Taylor 37 * are frozen at the crease. Zimbabwe’s team is currently 354 runs behind Bangladesh’s score with 9 wickets remaining.

When Mahmudullah came to the crease, he lost the wickets of his teammates Liton Das (95) and Mehdi Hasan (0). Bangladesh had then scored 270 runs at the score of 8 wickets. In such a situation, both Mahmudullah and Taskin became Bangladesh’s troubleshooters and put a record 191 run partnership for the 9th wicket and took Bangladesh to the score of 461 runs. Mahmudullah remained unbeaten till the end and stitched a record partnership with Taskin. Taskin scored his career best 75 runs in 134 balls with the help of 11 fours.
