  • Questions are being raised on Kohli’s captaincy after the loss

Virat Kohli’s captaincy is once again under question after India’s defeat in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). Many former cricketers and experts feel that the responsibility of leading in the three formats should be shifted from Kohli’s shoulders and the captaincy load should be shared with other players. Whenever there is a mention of sharing the captaincy of Team India, the name of ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma definitely comes up.

Many believe that opener Rohit will prove to be a perfect choice to lead India in the shortest format of the game i.e. T20. Now another veteran cricketer has come forward in favor of handing over the captaincy to Kohli in T20. Former England spinner Monty Panesar feels that the manner in which Rohit has led Mumbai Indians in the IPL, makes him a worthy candidate as captain. Let us tell you that Mumbai has captured the most five IPL titles under Kohli’s captaincy.

‘Rohit should be given the captaincy of T20’

Monty Panesar while talking to CricBouncer said, ‘I think the captaincy of T20 should probably be given to Rohit Sharma. He has led Mumbai Indians well. Panesar believes that Kohli will be under pressure for the time being. He said, ‘Virat Kohli is under pressure because if his team does not perform in the five-match series against England and loses the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, then you know what will happen.

‘India not much of a threat against England’

After the Test Championship final, India have to play a five-match Test series against England, which will start in August. India suffered a 4-1 defeat in the Test series on their last tour of England in 2018. Panesar said, ‘I think against England, India will not be much of a threat, because they have no player like Kyle Jamieson. Also England’s top-order batting is not that strong. So I think India will always be in the game.
