Lahore: The Pakistan cricket team once again showed why the tag ‘unexpected’ is attached to them. Pakistan had a great chance of winning the ODI series in England as the hosts had to opt for a second-rate squad at the last minute. While many thought that Pakistan’s team would easily win the ODI series, the visiting team failed to win a single match. England’s second-rate team cleaned up Pakistan 3-0 in the ODI series.

In the first two ODIs against England, the Pakistani batsmen had a disappointing performance. But in the third match, she could not defend the target of 331 runs. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar vented his anger over the poor performance of the Babar Azam-led Pakistan team and reprimanded the entire team. Akhtar said that Pakistan cricket would be in danger if the national team continued to perform like this. Akhtar has also slammed the team management.

‘You will not find new Shoaib Akhtar, Afridi or Wasim Akram’

Shoaib Akhtar vented his anger on the Pakistani team and management and board through his YouTube channel. He said, ‘This kind of performance will reduce your fan following. If the kids aren’t following you, you won’t find an inspiring player to play for you. You will not find new Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram and Shahid Afridi. If you keep thinking like an average person, it will result in average judgment and average performance.

He further said, ‘Pakistan cricket is in a very serious condition. There is no very hopeful situation here. Nobody can expect anything from PCB, management and team. I am not saying this because I want a job. I am saying this because I am sad because I played this sport for my country and made sure people get their money’s worth when I run, but unfortunately that cannot happen now.’

Shoaib Akhtar did not even spare the PCB officials. He said that people in high positions are not doing much. Akhtar said, ‘This needs attention. People in high positions have their eyes closed because they themselves are average people. England and Pakistan will now meet in a series of three T20 International matches, which will start on Friday.
