New Delhi: The Center told the Delhi High Court on Monday that social media giant Twitter Inc has failed to comply with India’s new IT Act, which is the law of the land. and must be compulsorily followed.

The Center, in an affidavit filed in the High Court, said that non-compliance of IT rules amounted to violation of its provisions, which could lead to Twitter losing its immunity granted under the IT Act. The affidavit has been filed in response to a plea by lawyer Amit Acharya, who had claimed that Twitter was not complying with the Centre’s new IT norms.
