London. Indian captain Virat Kohli (Virat Kohli) has indicated that the second Test match to be held from Thursday (India vs England 2nd Test) Even off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin can be left out. Meanwhile, injured fast bowler Shardul Thakur who was included in the last Test will not feature in the second Test. Ashwin has done well with bat and ball in recent times. He scored a century in the second Test against England in Chennai in February this year.

Kohli said on the eve of the second Test, “The good thing is that Jadeja scored runs in the first Test and he will certainly be there in the second. His presence will strengthen the batting down the order.” He said, “Shardul would have strengthened the batting ability but as I said we are in good position in batting because there is Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and I while Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul did better in the first test. We are in the batting unit. Right and I don’t think we need a batsman if Shardul is not playing.”

The 32-year-old India captain has said that the priority of the team is to take 20 wickets of the opposition team. “It is important for us to strike the right balance. But if Shardul is not playing then we will focus on how to take 20 wickets. We are happy with things in the first Test,” Kohli said.

The captain said the four bowlers ensure that the pressure is maintained. “Having four fast bowlers means you can build pressure every season. In a combination of four bowlers, you have to see which bowler can give you a breakthrough and which one you would prioritize,” Kohli said.
