Dhaka: Australia finally managed to break the losing streak in Bangladesh on Saturday. Matthew Wade-led Australia beat Bangladesh by three wickets with 6 balls to spare in the fourth T20 International. In the fourth T20 International match played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh batted first and scored 104 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. In reply, Australia chased down the target with 6 balls to spare. Australia’s Mitchell Swepson took 3 for 12 in 4 overs and was adjudged the player of the match.

Chasing the target of 105 runs, Australia started off well. Matthew Wade (2) was dismissed by Mehdi Hasan in the very first over, putting pressure on the visiting team. However, Dan Christian removed all the pressure by hitting five sixes in the fourth over of Shakib Al Hasan’s innings. But the Bangladeshi bowlers came back strongly and sent Australia’s middle order out to the dugout quickly. Soon, Australia’s score was reduced to six wickets for 65 runs.

Ashton Agar turned hero

Then came Ashton Agar, who played the troubleshooter for Australia. It looked like Bangladesh would be able to stop the visiting team from chasing the target like in the first three T20 Internationals. However, Ashton Agar did not allow this to happen. Agar shared a crucial 34-run partnership with Turner and brought Australia closer to victory. The left-handed batsman also eased the increasing pressure on Australia by hitting fours and sixes from time to time.

When Ashton Agar was dismissed, the Australian team was just 6 runs away from victory. But he had plenty of balls left. The credit goes to Ashton Agar, who scored 27 runs in 27 balls with the help of two fours and a six. Shariful Islam ended Agar’s innings by getting caught by Shamim Hossain. After this, Andrew Tye (4*) and Ashton Turner (9*) gave Australia a win an over before. With this win, Australia made a 1-3 difference in the current series. Now the last T20 International match between the two teams will be played on Monday.
