Bristol: England bowled out Sri Lanka for 166 runs in the third and final ODI, but the match had to be called off due to incessant rain after Tom Curran-led fast bowlers performed brilliantly. England had a clean sweep of Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20I series. Now in the ODI series, the hosts have washed Sri Lanka 2-0.
England won the toss and elected to bowl first and bowled by Curran (4 for 35), Chris Woakes (2 for 28) and David Willey (2 for 36) helped Sri Lanka in 41.1 overs. Just wrapped it up. Only Dasun Shanaka could bat for Sri Lanka, who scored an unbeaten 48 off 65 balls with the help of two sixes and as many fours. Apart from him, only Vanindu Hasaranga (20) could touch the 20-run mark.
After the end of Sri Lanka’s innings, however, it started raining which continued, due to which it was decided to cancel the match. The Sri Lankan team will now play three ODIs and as many T20Is against India at home, while England will host Pakistan in the ODI series from July 8.
