Islamabad: Since 2015, 6,18,877 Pakistanis have been deported from 138 countries due to various sectors including illegal entry or having fake travel documents. More than 72 percent of the total figures are from the seven countries that Pakistan refers to as its ‘friends’. These countries are Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Iran and Turkey. Most of the Pakistanis have been deported from here for various reasons.
According to a report in News International, Pakistan Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials say that these deportees may not have received proper support from Pakistan missions abroad, which has led to an alarming increase in deportations in recent years.
52 percent of Pakistanis expelled from Saudi Arabia
The average deportation of Pakistanis from Saudi Arabia in the last six years has gone up to 321,590, which is 52 percent of the total deportations. Which is 147 per day. 61 thousand 403 Pakistanis were deported from Saudi Arabia in 2015, 57 thousand 704 in 2016, 93 thousand 736 in 2017, 50 thousand 944 in 2018, 38 thousand 470 in 2019 and 19 thousand 333 last year.
According to Geo News, FIA officials said that the new immigration policies adopted by the governments of various countries, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE, have created problems for the expatriates.
Some migrants managed to gain entry into other countries, usually on the basis of suspicious documents prepared by their agents or human traffickers, while some deportees deliberately misplaced their documents to prolong their illegal stay.
