London: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed on Thursday that a member of the Indian team that toured England is infected with Kovid-19. Although the name of this player was not officially revealed, but it has been learned that the name of the Indian player who got infected with Kovid-19 is Rishabh Pant.
Times Now has learned from sources that Pant was infected with the virus 8 days ago and is in isolation at his friend’s house in London. He is not a part of the Indian team traveling from London to Durham and will join the team later after he is fully recovered.
Pant was recently seen at Wembley Stadium when the group stage match between England and Germany was played at Euro 2020. There is news about Pant that he is not infected and he is recovering. A BCCI source told PTI, “Pant is in isolation at his friend’s house and will not leave for Durham with the team on Thursday.”
Pant is in isolation for eight days
The reports of Indian players are yet to come. Since Pant is not in the hotel with other team members, the voice will not spread to other cricketers. Since all the players were on break, there could be more cases. BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla told PTI on Thursday, ‘Yes, one player is positive, but he is in isolation for the last eight days. He has not stayed in any hotel with the team. So no other players will be affected. But I cannot reveal the name of the player.

Shukla further said, ‘No other player is positive for now. You know that our secretary Jay Shah has written a letter to all the players to follow the protocol. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has reminded the team to avoid going to crowded places as the virus cases are increasing in England. Earlier, before the ODI series against Pakistan, 7 members of the England camp turned out to be Kovid-19, due to which the entire team had to be quarantined.
