St George: South Africa defeated West Indies by 25 runs in the fifth and final T20 International on Saturday. South Africa batted first and scored 168 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. In reply West Indies team could score 143 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. With this, the Proteas team defeated the West Indies 3-2 in their home series of five T20 Internationals. Aiden Markram (48 balls, 3 fours, 4 sixes, 70 runs) was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant innings.
Chasing the target of 169 runs, West Indies did not have a good start. Opener Lendl Simmons (3) was sent lbw to the dugout by George Linde. Its Evin Lewis (52) and Universe Boss Chris Gayle (11) shared a 45-run partnership for the second wicket. Tabrez Shamsi gave a big breakthrough to the Proteas by getting Chris Gayle caught by wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock.

Evin Lewis quickly completed his half-century, but he returned to the dugout after being caught by Markram off Ngidi. The left-handed batsman scored 52 runs in 34 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. From here Shimron Hetmyer (33) along with captain Kieron Pollard (13) put the score beyond 100 runs. That’s when Wian Mulder gave South Africa two big successes. He took two wickets in the third and fourth balls of the 15th over. Mulder got Pollard out caught by Markram. Then on the next ball, Russell got the hands of Ngidi.
Then Lungi Ngidi gave Hetmyer the sixth blow to the Caribbean team by getting Hetmyer caught at the hands of Miller. In the 19th over, Kagiso Rabada ensured South Africa’s victory by dismissing Dwayne Bravo (1) and Nicholas Pooran (20) in two successive balls. In the last over, Ngidi got Obed McCoy (1() in the hands of Mulder. Lungi Ngidi took the highest three wickets for South Africa. Kagiso Rabada and Wynn Mulder got two successes each. George Linde got one wicket in the account. .
Markram-Cock played aggressive innings
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat, South Africa had a poor start. Fidel Edwards did not even allow Temba Bavuma to open the account and was caught by Chris Gayle on the third ball of the first over. However, the early fall of the first wicket on the Proteas team had no effect. Quinton de Kock (60) and Aiden Markram (70) put up a 128-run century partnership to put the team in a strong position.
