Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer opened up about his recovery from a shoulder injury and his availability in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Iyer injured his shoulder while fielding in India’s first ODI against England in Pune in March and underwent surgery in April.
Iyer told YouTube channel ‘The Grade Cricketer’, ‘My shoulder ..yes, I think the injury has healed. Now this is the final step in gaining strength and range. So it’s going to take about a month and training is clearly underway. Also, I think, I will be in IPL.
When asked about his return to captaincy for Delhi Capitals, Iyer said, “I don’t know about captaincy. It is in the hands of the owners. But the team is already doing well and we are on top and that’s what really matters to me. My main aim and target is to lift the trophy which Delhi has never done before.
In his absence, Rishabh Pant was named the captain of the IPL 2020 runners-up. Before the second wave of Covid-19 brought the IPL to a halt, Delhi Capitals were sitting on top of the points table with 12 points.
