Zimbabwe cricketers Sean Williams and Craig Irvine have been ruled out of the one-off Test against Bangladesh starting here on Wednesday after they came into close contact with coronavirus-positive members of their families. He will have to live in isolation instead of playing in the match.

“Sean Williams and Craig Irvine were part of Zimbabwe’s 20-man squad announced last week but they will no longer be part of the team,” said Darlington Majonga, Zimbabwe Cricket’s media manager, according to ESPNcricinfo. Both of them will have to isolate themselves after coming in contact with the members of their families who have tested positive for COVID. They will have to live in isolation as per the National Health Protocol.

Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor said the absence of the two would give the newcomers a chance to prove themselves. “We are missing some experienced players but we have some young and excellent players. This will be a great opportunity for them to test themselves.

Opener Takudzwanashe Kaitano, pacer Tanaka Chiwanga, batsmen Joylord Gumby and Dion Myers were included in the squad last week. Four of them are new players.
