- Dasgupta believes Kohli should choose words and gestures right
Indian captain Virat Kohli is known for his aggressive behavior on the field. Kohli’s on-field attitude has proved to be helpful for the team at times, but his aggression has also been questioned by many experts and former cricketers. When a wicket falls, Kohli celebrates more than the bowler, especially if the batsman is in form. Kohli had recently made a silent gesture in the final of the Test Championship (WTC) played in Southampton, England, which was widely criticized. Now former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta has said a big thing on Kohli’s attitude.
Deep Dasgupta shares his opinion on Kohli’s on-field attitude. He feels that Kohli needs to be careful and take some care, as at times he gets too excited while celebrating. Even small children across the world are watching Kohli and it makes an impact. He expressed his views while answering a question during a question-and-answer session with fans on his YouTube channel. Dasgupta has played 11 Tests and 5 ODIs for India.
Dasgupta said, ‘You talked about him being there as captain. Yes, he is the ambassador of the country, especially when you are playing outside India. As I said I was not in Southampton so I don’t know how they behaved. I agree (he needs to choose his words and gestures correctly), a few things, I know he gets deluded. As you said children are also watching them. He is a role model for millions of children and I agree with that.
Kohli has changed a lot in his on-field behavior over the years, but still it remains a topic of discussion. He has come a long way in transforming himself while in Team India and playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL. Significantly, the Kohli-led Indian team is currently in England after losing the WTC final. India has played a five-match Test series against England from 4 August.
