The five-match T20I series between West Indies and South Africa came to an end on Saturday. South Africa thrashed West Indies by 26 runs in the fifth and deciding match on the back of a brilliant innings by wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock (60). With this win, South Africa won the series 3-2. Even though the visiting team was successful in winning the series, West Indies became a ‘baazigar’ even after losing. Windies will definitely be sad to lose the series, but the team has accomplished such a big feat, which no one has been able to do so far.
West Indies first team to do so
West Indies batsmen’s glory in T20 cricketer is not hidden from anyone. Caribbean players are famous all over the world for their fast batting and hitting long sixes. Now the West Indies team hit so many sixes in a series against South Africa that everyone was left behind and the world record was set. West Indies have become the first team to hit more than 50 sixes in a T20 International bilateral series. In this case, only New Zealand are close to the Windies, who had scored 48 sixes in the T20 series against England in the year 2019.
Lewis has hit most sixes
While West Indies made the record for hitting most sixes in a team series, Caribbean Evin Lewis hit the most sixes in this series as a player. He hit 13 sixes in five matches. Second in the list was Quinton de Kock, who hit 10 sixes in five matches. He is followed by West Indies captain Kieron Pollard. Pollard hit 6 sixes. At the same time, Edin Markram, who had a stormy batting corner in the last T20, finished fourth. He sent the ball across the boundary in the air 5 times.
