New Delhi: A good news for Reliance Jio customers, Jio has once again proved to be the topper in average 4G download speed. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) data for the month of May, the average download speed of Jio was measured at 20.7 Mbps. In the last month i.e. April, the average 4G download speed of Reliance Jio was 20.1 Mbps. For the past several years, Reliance Jio has consistently remained the number one 4G operator in terms of download speed.

According to TRAI, there was a decline in the performance of Bharti Airtel in May. Airtel’s average 4G download speed stood at 4.7 Mbps in May as against 5.0 Mbps in April. Reliance Jio’s download speed was more than four times that of Airtel. This is a problem for Bharti Airtel as it has slipped to number three in terms of download speed.

Vodafone and Idea Cellular had merged their businesses and now they are working as Vodafone-Idea but till April 2021, TRAI used to show the figures of both separately. This is the first time that TRAI has published the data of both the companies in the name of Vi India.

The company recorded an average download speed of 6.3 Mbps for the month of May, according to first published data by Vi India. At the same time, in the month of April, when the figures of both the companies were published separately, Vodafone recorded an average download speed of 7.0 Mbps and Idea’s 5.8 Mbps. Reliance Jio’s download speed is more than 3 times that of Vi India.

Vi India topped the average 4G upload speed chart with 6.3 Mbps in May. Reliance Jio won the second number with its upload speed of 4.2 Mbps. Airtel also ranked third in terms of average 4G upload speed. The company’s average upload speed for the month of May was measured at 3.6 Mbps. The average speed is calculated by TRAI on the basis of real time data collected with the help of MySpeed application.
